The Barre's come to visit

Aliss and Zack went to Kenai with me to go to the beach and fly some kites....some flew, one flopped.  No matter what adjustments we tried...it simply would NOT fly...it was a bomber instead. We returned it to the store and got a better model that is still waiting for Aliss to try it out.

Gus was assigned to guard the sign post and not let it go anywhere......he was very good at his job.
This weekend when he came home from Anchorage, Grandpa took them out to the powerline to see a few areas off the beaten track and show them where he used to go moose hunting.

While they were out I made some peanutbutter cookies and Aliss was kind enough to test them for me when she got back...such a great risk taker!
 FOURTH OF JULY

I have been living in this area since July 29, 1980 and every year there is a parade for the fourth of July and this is the first year that I have ever gone to see the parade.  It was interesting and lasted an hour and a half. We watched almost all of it and when the firetrucks went by they used their sirens and that set Gus off with his "singing" along with them. Zack was kind enough to keep him company for the singing.
After the parade we went to my best friend's house for her barbecue pot luck. Janel lives on a small lake and has a pedal boat that is very popular with one and all...Aliss and Zack took it around the lake a few times and so did Janel with her grandson who is visiting for a week.  Everett and I had our turn too.  We all had a great time there and then came home to get things ready for Everett to return to Anchorage for another week of no fun and all work.
Aliss and the water lilies she picked while pedaling on the lake.

Lots of great food and good company on the deck at Janel's house.
